The New Mastersounds hosted another late night Jazz Fest show for the books, bringing their English-style funk outfit to the city of New Orleans during the most wonderful time of year. Another 2AM show filed into the Joy Theatre for a double set scorcher, welcoming some very special guests for the early morning tribute to the late Allen Toussaint.Lettuce/Soulive’s Eric Krasno, Dumpstaphunk’s Ivan Neville, and southern rock-soul artist Marc Broussard were billed for the “Southern Late Nights” tribute to New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint.The band started and ended the night with their original music, sandwiching the tribute with hits like “Cigar Time” and “Baby Bouncer.” Nearing the approach of sunrise, the all-stars brought a new level of funky respect to classic songs like “Sneakin’ Sally Through The Alley,” “Night People,” and “Last Train.”Check out these incredible photos from last night, courtesy of the great Jeremy Scott: The New Mastersounds will be returning to the Joy Theatre this evening with Jon Cleary and Marc Broussard. Western North Carolina’s Transylvania County is known to many as the “Land of Waterfalls.” But with the beauty and tranquility of the area’s waterfalls and other natural features comes an element of danger and, sometimes, tragedy.That fact rang true yesterday when a 24-year-old visitor to a section of the Pisgah National Forest just outside Brevard, N.C. fell at least 50 feet to his death from the top of Moore Cove Falls.Kim Quang Le, a Vietnamese resident living in the United States on a Student/Employee Authorization Card, had been visiting the area on a camping trips with four friends when the Moore Cove Falls accident occurred.According to witnesses present at the scene when the fall occurred, Quang Le had ascended the side of the falls and embarked on a traverse of its brink when he lost his footing, falling 50 to 75 feet into the stream bed below.Moore Cove Falls, courtesy Russell Harrison Photography U.S. Forest Service along with the Transylvania County Rescue Squad and the Transylvania County EMS were all called to the scene, but because Quang Le was declared deceased at the time of their arrival, no efforts were made to resuscitate him.Moore Cove Falls is located in the heart of a popular tourist area just off of Highway 276 between Sliding Rock and Looking Glass Falls.

Picture copyright Donegal Daily.UPDATED 5.30PM: A man and woman have been rescued following an apartment block fire in Letterkenny.The fire broke out at a hallway in an apartment block at Lower Main Street.The emergency services rushed to the scene of the fire before 5pm. A hoist was used to take the man and woman from the apartment at Westside apartments.It is understood the fire may have started in a hallway outside the couple’s apartment.It is not known if anybody has been hurt as a result of the fire and it is not known how the blaze started.We will bring you more on this story as it develops.
