Dimitar Berbatov’s Premier League predictions including Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd & Liverpool

first_imgMarcus Rashford will be central to Man Utd’s hopes of causing an upset in the derby (Picture: Getty)Both teams need the win – United to keep their momentum going after beating Spurs in midweek and City to keep alive their title hopes – so I expect goals. I’m not keen on the draw though. I think United can surprise City and take all three points. That would end City’s title hopes, which would be great, except that it would hand the title to Liverpool, which is even worse. But if United win their derby on Saturday, they won’t be thinking about that.AdvertisementAdvertisementDimitar’s prediction: 1-2Aston Villa vs Leicester CityLeicester have been extraordinary so far but at some point in this Premier League campaign they have to slip up. They needed to come from behind a score a late winner against Everton last weekend, although they were comfortable against a poor Watford team in midweek. I like the way Villa play – they caused problems for their opponents at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge in the past week – so I’m going for a home win here.Dimitar’s prediction: 2-1Newcastle United vs SouthamptonYou just don’t know which Newcastle team is going to turn up. Sometimes, they’re excellent, as they were in their wins over Spurs and Manchester United, and other times they’re flat. They battled to a draw against Manchester City last weekend and, even though Southampton are unbeaten in three, I’m going for the home win here. 1-0Norwich City vs Sheffield United: The Blades are, for me, the surprise package of the season so far. I like the way they play, they keep their shape, playing a fluid 3-5-2 formation that really suits them. Chris Wilder is doing a great job there. I’ve enjoyed watching Lys Mousset who can score goals and create them for his team mates. I expect them to win a tight game at Carrow Road.Dimitar’s prediction: 0-1Brighton vs WolvesWolves are firing and I like the way they play. If they can keep Nuno, who is one of the contenders for the Arsenal manager’s job, then it will be a massive boost for them. Brighton have lost their last three and, as they need to avoid defeat here, I can see them holding Wolves to a draw.AdvertisementDimitar’s prediction: 2-2West Ham vs Arsenal Marco Silva was sacked by Everton on Thursday (Picture: Getty)Results just haven’t been good enough and the hammering against Liverpool was dismal for Everton fans. There really was no coming back for Marco Silva after that 5-2 defeat. Chelsea, on the other hand, are in good form under Frank Lampard, with Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham getting better every week.Dimitar’s prediction: 1-2AFC Bournemouth vs LiverpoolI have a funny feeling about this one. Liverpool have won all but one match in the Premier League this season and they look unstoppable. Bournemouth, on the other hand, have lost four in a row. But Dean Court can still be a difficult place for visiting teams – as Manchester United discovered last month – and I expect Eddie Howe’s men to be well organised and capable of getting something on the break. So I’m going to predict an upset.Dimitar’s prediction: 1-0Tottenham Hotspur vs BurnleyThe defeat at Old Trafford in midweek was Spurs’ worst performance under Jose Mourinho. The only positive was Dele Alli’s goal which was unbelievable. It’s easy for me to say, as a former Spurs and United player, but I doubt there’s any fan who doesn’t want to see a piece of skill like that. Anyway, Mourinho won’t let his players’ heads drop now and they’ll be back on it at home to Burnley on Saturday.Dimitar’s prediction: 2-0.Watford vs Crystal PalaceWatford are now seven points from safety and they are starting to look like the club – there’s one most seasons – that spends most of the season destined for relegation. They’ve sacked two managers this term and, while there’s still time for whoever takes over to save them, they need to start improving immediately. Palace have won two on the trot but I think the home side can secure a useful point here.Dimitar’s prediction: 1-1Manchester City vs Manchester United Comment Dimitar Berbatov previews another massive weekend of Premier League action (Pictures: REX/METRO.CO.UK)Liverpool continued their unrelenting march towards Premier League glory with a crushing win over Everton in midweek and will hope for a favour from another of their rivals this weekend.Manchester United are underdogs for the derby at the Etihad, but their form against their top six rivals under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offers some hope they could cause an upset against the champions.Leicester are currently Liverpool’s closest challengers in the table and they will be hopeful of extending their winning run at Aston Villa, especially following the news that Brendan Rodgers has extended his contract.Arguably the biggest game of the weekend, however, comes on Monday night when struggling Arsenal travel to equally out of sorts West Ham.AdvertisementAdvertisementADVERTISEMENTBetfair Ambassador Dimitar Bebatov previews the action exclusively for Metro.co.uk…Everton vs Chelsea Advertisement Dimitar BerbatovFriday 6 Dec 2019 11:30 pmShare this article via facebookShare this article via twitterShare this article via messengerShare this with Share this article via emailShare this article via flipboardCopy link283Shares Dimitar Berbatov’s Premier League predictions including Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd & Liverpool Advertisement Struggling Arsenal can ill-afford another defeat at West Ham on Monday (Picture: Getty)A London derby could bring the best out in these teams. Or it could bring out the worst. Arsenal are capable of losing to anyone but West Ham have problems too. Last weekend’s win at Chelsea was a great moment for the Hammers but they reverted to poor form in their midweek defeat to Wolves. These are probably two of the most unpredictable teams in the Premier League, especially as we don’t know yet what impact Freddie Ljunberg will have on the Gunners. I’m going for the home win.Dimitar’s prediction: 2-1More: Manchester United FCRio Ferdinand urges Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to drop Manchester United starNew Manchester United signing Facundo Pellistri responds to Edinson Cavani praiseEx-Man Utd coach blasts Ed Woodward for two key transfer errorsMORE: Arsenal star Nicolas Pepe blasted for worst warm-up of all time by Clive Tyldesley & Alan ShearerMORE: Arsenal legend Martin Keown never saw Freddie Ljungberg as management materiallast_img
