LocalNews UWP withdraws elections petition appeals. by: – April 5, 2011 Sharecenter_img 103 Views   no discussions Share Photo credit: workersvoiceonline.comInformation reaching Dominica Vibes News indicates that the United Workers Party has withdrawn all five election petition appeals matters.The appellants in these election petitions are Bobby Frederick, Ronald Green, Maynard Joseph, Claudius Standford, and John Abraham.Applications were filed on behalf  of the Dominica Labour Party members of Parliament to strike out the United Workers Party election petition appeals off the record.Her Ladyship, the Honourable MDE Ola Mae Edwards Justice of Appeal,ordered on 22nd March, 2011 that the application of the Respondents for the Appeal to be struck out is set for hearing on 11th April 2011.However, before the matter could be heard by the court the United Workers Party withdrew their appeals by an application dated 4th April, 2011.Senator Green explained that “the appeals on bribery and access to DBS, these two were withdrawn. The matter of allegiance is still going ahead as we await the decision of Justice Thom depending on whether she rules that the disclosure on the documents should be made or should not be made.”Dominica Vibes News has confirmed that the matter before Justice Thom is not an appeals matter and that the report on the withdrawal of the appeals is accurate.The Application for withdrawal of these election petitions appeals indicates that the Appellants are no longer interested in prosecuting the appeals.Dominica Vibes Newslast_img
